PARENT ASSISTANCE AND PARENT AIDE

section-imgThrough a contract with the Department of Human Services, the Latino Community Development Agency provides Parent Assistance and Parent Aide services for parents referred to the program. Parent Assistance services consist of 16 week parenting classes that are center-based and therapeutic in nature. It includes parent support groups, individual counseling, Compassion/Core Values, Parent-Child Observation Groups and education on parenting techniques. Classes are kept small to encourage parent participation and sharing. Parent Aide services are-home-based therapeutic services in which the Parent Educator acts as a mentor and models appropriate parenting skills and deals with basic issues, such as housekeeping, child development, health issues, budgeting, learning/accessing community resources, obtaining housing, transportation. This program is based on the DHS Safe Care Model.
